To Book The Practical Test
There is usually
a waiting time for tests. The waiting times varies from place to
place but can range from a few weeks to 12 weeks. The times to take
the test are at :-

Saturday and
weekday evening tests are available at some driving test centres.
The fee for these are higher than for a driving test during normal
working hours on weekdays. Evening tests are available during the
summer months only.
You can book
your practical test in a number of ways:-
By Phone
The most popular
way to book the practical test is by telephone, using your credit
card or debit card. The person who books the test must be the cardholder.
If you book by this method you’ll be given the date and time
of your test immediately.
You can do this
by calling 0870 010 1372 at any time between 8am and 6pm Monday
to Friday.

When
you phone you should have:
- Your theory
test pass certificate number
- Your driver
number shown on your licence
- The type
of test you wish to book ( car, motorcycle, LGV, PCV)
- Your personal
details (name, address, day / evening telephone numbers)
- Driving school
code number (if known. This is used so your instructor is not
double booked)
- Your preferred
date
- Unacceptable
days or periods
During the call
please advise of any disability or any special circumstances
You will be
given a booking number and will be sent an appointment card with
your details of the time and date of your test. Check the Date and
time of your allotted test with your Instructor
On-line
The DSA now
provides an on-line booking system which can be used between 6.00am
and Midnight. This can be accessed at www.dsa.gov.uk
To book a practical
test you will need a:-
Valid UK driving
licence number.
Theory test Pass Certificate number.
Valid debit/credit card for payment (please ensure that you are
the cardholder). The following cards are acceptable for payment:
Not only can
you book your test on-line but you can also Change, Check and Cancel
a test
Check
a test booking online
To view a test
booking, you will need to enter your UK driving licence number,
you will then be able to check the status of any future test you
have booked, including when and where the test is booked; and whether
the booking is confirmed or 'pending'. A pending booking is a booking
that we cannot confirm until we have checked your entitlement.
By Post
You can apply
for your practical test by Post using form DL26
(Practical Driving Test. The form is also available from Test
Centres or from your driving instructor
Send the completed
form with your payment by cheque or postal order ( do not send cash)

Changing
or Cancelling your Practical Test
To change or
cancel your appointment for the practical test, you must phone or
write to the DSA, giving at least 10 clear working days' notice,
or you will lose your test fee.
